Patients at Miller Children’s Hospital Long Beach Enjoy Special Screening Party

Dec. 14, 2011 - PRLog -- While Happy Feet Two is currently screening in theatres to the general public, patients at Miller Children’s Hospital Long Beach had a special screening party of their own. The Starlight Foundation™ and corporate partner Aaron Brothers® brought the original Happy Feet film to pediatric patients, along with stand-up characters from the film. Patients also received special frames with Mumble, the penguin, where they could frame photos of themselves at this special visit. Patients and families watched the film with excitement and created crafts themed around the Happy Feet film.

The cinematic celebration is part of the Hospital Happenings® program that the Child Life Department at Miller Children’s and the Starlight Foundation coordinate to help kids enjoy the thrill of the movies, during their hospital stay.

The Child Life Program helps make the hospital experience more positive for children of all ages. Child Life Specialists plan individualized and group programs that help children adjust to their hospital stay and promote the continuity of normal, daily childhood activities.

“It’s special for children to watch Happy Feet with their families and be able to take a break from hospitalization,” says Rita Goshert, child life manager, Miller Children’s. “We’re so appreciative of the Starlight Foundation and Aaron Brothers for bringing this Happy Feet party together.”
