Washington State Law Enforcement, First Responders and MADD Team Up to Prevent Drunk Driving

Red Ribbons To Be Placed on Ambulance, Fire Trucks & Police Cars Reminding Drivers Not to Drink and Drive This Holiday Season

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release) - Dec. 13, 2011 - To raise awareness, the Washington State chapter of Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) is working with a number of law enforcement agencies and first responders in Washington State that will be placing red ribbons on fleet vehicles to remind drivers not to drive drunk this holiday season.

“MADD Washington is thrilled that so many state and local agencies, first responders, and medical teams supporting this program,” said Mischelle Davis, MADD program coordinator.  “During the holiday season even the smallest reminder to celebrate safely and responsibly may go a long way to help save lives.”

Ninety-three separate law enforcement agencies, hospitals, fire crews, ambulance services and other agencies that have committed to participating in the program thus far.

“It’s heartbreaking to notify a family that their loved one has been killed or injured in a drunk driving crash, especially when we know the crash was totally preventable,” said Chief John R. Batiste of the Washington State Patrol. “Our participation with MADD to place red ribbons on our patrol vehicles will hopefully serve as a visual reminder for our citizens to take individual responsibility for their actions and to NOT drink and drive.”

A complete list of participants along with photos vehicles displaying red ribbons is updated several times per day at http://redribbons.maddwashington.com.
