UC Irvine Extension Awards Professors With Finest Accolades

Appreciation Breakfast Celebrates School’s 50th Anniversary and Achievements
 
Dec. 13, 2011 - PRLog -- IRVINE, Calif. (Dec. 12, 2011) -- The University of California, Irvine Extension recognized individuals who have made an extraordinary contribution to the organization’s mission at its 12th Annual Instructor and Advisory Committee Member Appreciation Breakfast. Fifteen individuals were recognized in three award categories.
“It is my pleasure to honor the contributions of UC Irvine Extension instructors and advisors, without whom we would not be able to serve our students,” said Dr. Gary Matkin, dean of Continuing Education, Distance Learning and Summer Session at UC Irvine.  “We appreciate the time each and every instructor invests toward their classes and their students and we are pleased to honor these exemplary individuals.”  
   The “Dean’s Outstanding Service Award,” which recognizes an individual who has proven to be an invaluable resource to UC Irvine Extension, was presented to Ron Hooven.  As the Associate Director of Campus Asset Management at UCI, Hooven was recognized for his role in supporting the recent relocation of UC Irvine Extension’s business functions to space in the University Research Park, thereby enabling Extension to refocus its campus offices on student-facing activities.
Mike Peterson and Virginia Gilbert were awarded the “UCI Extension Partnership Award,” which celebrates businesses, organizations, or individuals who have enhanced UCI’s continuing education programs, expertise and professional skills of their employees through partnership. They were recognized for the continued success of UC Irvine Extension’s film education series, Sneak Previews with Michael Berlin. A second “UCI Extension Partnership Award” was presented to Carolyn Seaton, the Executive Director for Educational Services, who facilitates the continued onsite course delivery of the Gifted and Talented Education (GATE) program for the Manhattan Beach Unified School District.  
   The UC Irvine Extension “Distinguished Instructor Awards” are presented annually to educators who demonstrate outstanding performance in their creative use of instructional techniques; continuous commitment and flexibility in addressing student needs; presentation of current and relevant material that positively impacts students’ careers or life; and demonstrable qualities that inspire enthusiasm and enhanced learning. This year’s recipients were:

●   Christopher Sanders, Project Management Certificate Program
●   Pamela Rutledge, Social Media Certificate Program
●   Marlene Rossman, Wine Studies Program
●   Bobby Ho, Human Resources Certificate Program
●   Larry Hein, Project Management Certificate Program
●   Kevin Hanegan, Web Design Certificate Program
●   Michael Klett, Embedded Systems Engineering   Certificate Program
●   Erin Johansen, Marketing Certificate Program
●   Rachel Fernandez, English as a Second Language (ESL) and Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) Programs
●   Steven Antonoff, Independent Educational Consultant Certificate Program
