Aurion Learning & FPA Develop Sex & Sexuality Elearning for People with Learning Disabilities

PRLog (Press Release) - Dec. 13, 2011 - Aurion Learning and the FPA first collaborated in 2008 to develop the award-winning All About Us; a CD-ROM that gives people with learning disabilities information on sex, relationships and sexual orientation. The learning resource is designed to be fun and easy to use and covers a range of topics including understanding emotions, keeping safe, what it means to become an adult, and appropriate behaviour in public and private spaces.

The new and improved version of All About Us is available as a DVD-ROM and now comes with British sign-language interpreter option.

Speaking about the new learning programme, Dr Audrey Simpson OBE, Director of FPA, Northern Ireland said:

“Our All About Us DVD-ROM aims to help the personal development and knowledge of people with learning disabilities around sex, sexuality and relationships. It provides a self-study learning tool that can be used by someone with learning disabilities on their own, or with support, to introduce key issues. It complements the delivery of sex and relationships education in the home, school, and other learning environments.”

All About Us was awarded a prestigious Silver Award for Excellence in educational content in the E-Learning Awards 2009. It also won a UK Charity Award in 2010.
