Liz and Stephanie were approached by the children’s publishing company Goops Unlimited in early 2010 to provide graphic design services for Baking with Friends. Barbara Ross, founder of Goops Unlimited, learned of the mother-daughter design team from their work for several regional trade shows, and asked the two to contribute to the project. She states, “It’s not often you encounter mother-daughter design teams, and given Baking with Friends’ theme of adults and children working together, I knew I found the right people.”
The recent win of the Benjamin Franklin Award marks the first time Liz and Stephanie have been honored for their work on a national level. The award stems from a national program dedicated to honoring the best achievements in publishing, and the awards are announced annually in New York City at the Book Expo America tradeshow.
About Baking with Friends:
The children’s cookbook Baking with Friends was written by Sharon Davis and Charlene Patton of the Home Baking Association, with watercolor illustrations by Coleen McIntyre. The book also includes an audio cd voiced by Clovis radio personality Pam Atherton.
