Dec. 12, 2011 - PRLog -- Collaboration on "Tailgunner" keeps moving forward with each week that passes. Extensive research on the landscape, time line and other significant events of WWII has been completed with meticulous care. The reader can almost feel the knot in heroine, Ilona’s stomach as she reacts to the constant threat of war and violence much less the normal chaos of life.

Bringing “Tailgunner” to life has been a monumental task so far – months of planning, negotiating and compromises as well as sub-contracting outside services and networking with talented friends and associates. During my recent conversation with an 88 year old neighbor, a WWII veteran, I couldn’t help but feel that our heritage is slipping away from us. This story needs to be told lest we forget their sacrifices.

Anne’s co-author, Victor Merkel, is working hard to fill out the rest of this intense story. You’ll fly with the hero, Buck Remke, perched behind dual machine guns as the prop-wash and Messerschmitts careen past you at blazing speed. As Buck fires on German aircraft, 50 caliber shell casings pop out of the exit chamber faster than you can blink. During lulls in enemy skirmishes, you’ll fight off frigid air trying to seep past the sheep’s hide flight jacket while you flex numb toes and fingers to stay limber for the next wave of Luftwaffe fighters.

During his personal time, you’ll join Buck at a local Cabaret. As you sit back in a comfortable lounge chair, the lights dim and Ilona Laszlo saunters on stage. Young, yet somehow mature beyond her years, she fills the room with a honey-coated ballad that tilts every emotion on end, almost bringing you to tears. You’ll feel Buck and Ilona drawn to each other, their desires strong, casting aside all logic for love.

Although Cabaret singers could be found in gin joints throughout Europe, Middle East and North Africa, etc., during the 1930 to 1945 time period, relatively few used their voice to capitalize on a film career. Marlene Dietrich (costar-Gary Cooper) brought the fragile condition of love to light in – “Morocco” (1930 film) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0021156 . A Foreign Legionnaire and Cabaret singer fall in love but war and life work to keep them apart. In contrast, beyond a different timeline and country, Buck and Ilona walk a far dissimilar path filled with its own threatening pitfalls
