Dec. 12, 2011 - PRLog -- Plano, Texas  – BADD has introduced new initiatives to help combat drunk driving by educating and informing bartenders to develop a sense of responsibility and accountability on their part. BADD (Bartenders against Drunk Driving) supports bartenders’ moral and legal obligations to those they serve in the public through their chosen career path.

BADD was founded in 2011 for the express purpose of providing a formal education to bartenders about how their career affects the public and the lives of other people. By providing scholarships to bartending schools, and educating bartenders, bar owners and bar managers, BADD helps to reduce the number of alcohol-related injuries and cases of drunk driving.

One of the key elements BADD promotes is that bar managers and owners only hire bartenders who have completed bartending school and understand their responsibility and role in drunk driving and alcohol-related accidents. BADD does not condone over consuming alcohol; they promote drinking and serving alcohol responsibly at all times.

BADD has introduced scholarship programs available to aspiring bartenders to help them obtain official certification through an approved school, as well. In addition, BADD sponsors and participates in community events to help increase awareness of bartender responsibility and accountability, the need for certified, educated bartenders and to help promote and grow membership in the organization.

A bartender has several responsibilities that go hand in hand with their service. They have a responsibility to the people they serve – a moral obligation to help. They also have an obligation to innocents whose lives might be affected by the people they serve. Finally, a bartender is also legally responsible when a case of “over service” is filed against a bar or restaurant. Only through responsible actions and a sense of accountability for their role can bartenders hold up their moral and legal obligations.

BADD is making headway in the fight against drunk driving through increasing awareness of bartenders’ obligations in these situations. They are also helping to ensure that bartenders are educated, responsible and accountable by encouraging education within qualifying bartender schools.
