Dec. 12, 2011 - PRLog -- Online printing service, Common Good Printing, has committed 2% of all sales to a select list of charitable organizations. One such group is Habitat for Humanity which provides repairs and weatherization services in addition to building new homes for needy families.  A great example is the work they are doing in Kalamazoo, Michigan.

With the intent to have a greater influence on stabilizing neighborhoods, next year, Kalamazoo Valley Habitat for Humanity plans to add new services to their housing work such as; major home repairs, weatherization and one other new home-improvement option.

Homeowners will have to pay for these services but Habitat does the work at no profit and at zero percent interest loans. That makes these jobs very affordable for low-income households.

Though it would be new locally, these Neighborhood Revitalization Initiatives have been used by other Habitat for Humanity groups across the country. Of the 1,500 Habitat organizations in the United States, around 10 percent offer these services.

“I chose a group of 10 charities that, like Habitat, seek to offer a hand up to those in need,” said Common Good Printing founder, Randy Root. “We may expand the list or help with a special fund-raising effort. The main thing is that I want people to have a chance to do something important for the common good when they purchase cheap prints online.”

Socially-conscious printing buyers don’t have worry about quality or price when working with Common Good. “We provide very low prices on a wide range of printed materials,” said Root. “My company was designed to do what the name says – serve the common good. If I don’t provide excellent printing for less, people will go elsewhere. That means fewer donations.”
