Stouch Lighting Announces Swarthmore Borough Will Retrofit Street Lights with LEDs

Dec. 12, 2011 - PRLog -- Swarthmore, PA (December 12, 2011) – Stouch Lighting announced today that Swarthmore Borough, Delaware County, Pa, will be retrofitting a portion of their street lights to LED light fixtures. Swarthmore will be installing the LED lights to reduce energy consumption as part of their efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the Borough by 20% by the year 2020. The lower energy usage will also result in significant cost savings for the Borough.
“We are very enthusiastic to get these new and improved lights into town,” Borough Manager Jane Billings said. “The LED lights will help to reduce costs and energy expenditures as we move towards our goal of greenhouse gas reduction in Swarthmore.”
Swarthmore was able to fund this project after receiving a grant from Delaware County, utilizing funds from the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block grant. (EECBG) This was awarded to the county through the American Recovery Reinvestment Act. (ARRA) Upon project completion, Swarthmore will see a 65% reduction in energy usage, reduced maintenance cost and an environmentally friendly light source.
