Canada’s Queen of Networking, Donna Messer, launches a New Year’s Resolution
Accountability Series for Entrepreneurs and Businesses

(Dec. 9, 2011 – Oakville ON) New Year’s Eve is just around the corner and along with all the festivities, bubbly and party hats come the inevitable setting of New Year’s Resolutions.  Donna Messer, Canada’s Queen of Networking and former Entrepreneur of the Year is launching a new Accountability Series to guide Entrepreneurs and Businesses alike to teach people how to set clear, realistic goals that will STICK through 2012.

0 to 45% of North American adults make one or more resolution each year.  Among the top New Year’s Resolutions are resolutions about weight loss, exercise, to stop smoking, have better money management and debt reduction. But, how many of these resolutions are maintained as time goes on?  

- past the first week:   75%
- past 2 weeks:             71%
- after one month:       64%
- after 6 months:         46%

•   Less than half of all New Year’s Resolutions are maintained after 6 months of setting them.
•   People who make New Year’s Resolutions do break them, but research shows that making resolutions is useful.
•   People who explicitly make Business Resolutions are 10 times more likely to attain their goals than people who don't explicitly explain their resolutions.

“This year, instead of looking forward to what you want, I encourage people to spend time reflecting on what they have” says Donna Messer, author of 5 books including Effective Networking Strategies. “Everyone sets goals and calls them New Year's Resolutions - and they most always fail. I'm launching an accountability series that will help all those goal setters stay on track and actually be able to measure their result.…I’m not going to worry about the economy.  Instead, I am going to focus my energies on developing new relationships, working closely with interesting clients, who have a positive outlook and a willingness to be held accountable by not just me, but with a team of their peers.”

One of Donna’s main suggestions is that if you do set a resolution, set a "we-based rather than a me-centered resolution". Taking the ‘we” approach will still help you achieve your goals, but you will also help others as well.  Research has proven time and again that those who set specific and measurable goals, and STICK with them for a minimum of three weeks, will see an increase in their level of success, happiness and participation in the coming year.

•   Do you believe you will be happier on December 31, 2012 if you are successful in achieving your resolutions this year?
