Carrentals.co.uk and Brake Team Up on 6th ‘Road Sense’ Safety Campaign

Leading UK road safety charity teams up with award-winning car hire specialist

Dec. 8, 2011 - PRLog -- 02 December 2011 – Online car hire comparison specialist Carrentals.co.uk, the website which helps drivers save on car hire in more than 15,000 places, has introduced its latest ‘Road Sense’ campaign this week. The sixth campaign of its kind will operate in partnership with road safety charity Brake to drive awareness of safe winter road use.

Drivers will this year be warned by Road Sense that they must get their car brakes and tyres inspected on a regular basis, even more so while the winter weather rolls in in the UK. The campaign acknowledges that finances remain tight for many people but the checks remain absolutely essential.

Gareth Robinson, Managing Director of Carrentals.co.uk, says: “Road Sense is all about driving awareness around careless driving and accident prevention in the UK. We want people to know the ways that they can make accidents more avoidable through things like having car brakes and tyres inspected regularly by an approved specialist.”

Brake advises that car accidents are the leading cause of death for UK youths today, with driving too fast and poor overtaking skills cited as major reasons why. In the UK one in eight motorists is aged under 25 while 25% of fatal and major accidents include one of that age range.

“The sixth Road Sense campaign is as vital as all those that went before and we want to drive home the road safety awareness message,” Gareth goes on. “Brake and ourselves are committed to helping reduce the number of fatal accidents on UK roads.”

Katie Shephard, director at Brake, says: “We are of course very pleased that Carrentals.co.uk has chosen to run another Road Sense campaign this year and we are delighted to be a part of it. Our message through the 2011 UK Road Safety Week Brake is that motorists must ‘have a heart at the wheel’ and consider the safety of others on the roads, particularly as the winter weather makes roads more treacherous than ever.”

The Carrentals.co.uk Road Sense site offers road safety advice as well as new offers, including discounts on winter clothing and reflective gear for children and adults from Outdoor Look and BrightKidz.

Carrentals.co.uk is the leading car hire comparison site comparing prices in over 15,000 locations worldwide including France, Spain and car hire in Ireland, with pick up locations including car hire in Dublin, Cork and Shannon.
