Free Social Network App Offers Troops Way to Follow and Converse Over Annual Tradition

Dec. 8, 2011 - PRLog -- PlayUp, the first social network app exclusively for sports fans, socializers and gamers, announced today a partnership with Military Traveler, LLC that kicks off on Saturday surrounding the Army-Navy football game. PlayUp will be creating a “Military Traveler App” room where active and retired military personnel can follow the action in real-time and message about the rivalry.

Prior to the 2:30 PM ET kickoff on Dec. 10, registered users of the Military Traveler app will receive a notification announcing the “Military Traveler App” hangout room being open. As part of this agreement, PlayUp will be featured within the Military Traveler app, which serves as a reference guide for U.S. bases, encompassing useful phone numbers and base info, as well as user-shared content like ratings, reviews and uploaded photos. PlayUp and Military Traveler will both be included on the other’s respective press pages as well.

PlayUp launched in October and enables sports fans to follow their choice of more than 20,000 live games while simultaneously discussing the action with fellow fans on their mobile devices. The free app includes real-time scoring and stats, along with the option to create private rooms to discuss the action with friends or join public rooms to interact with fans from around the world – play by play and pitch by pitch for every NFL, college football and basketball, NHL, NBA, MLB, and MLS game, as well as a variety of international leagues from around the globe.

Capt. Hatala, a U.S. Marine Corps Officer and Harrier pilot, founded Military Traveler in 2011 to help acclimate troops to new bases following deployment. Capt. Hatala has been stationed at seven different bases in his time with the Marine Corps and was eager to provide a better way to ease the transition for troops.
