Lovers of fine furniture, interior design, antiques and history will enjoy exploring the collections and learning about the origin of the individual pieces.

EavesIvy.com also features The Grain, a blog covering such topics as décor, the care of fine furniture, and stories about the barns and families who help procure the materials needed to bring the designs of Eaves & Ivy to life.

Excerpt from The Grain
As barns often are, this one had been “rebuilt” at least twice by families who lived there prior to the Uhlmans. Each family renovated, [re]using what was already in the barn to create a “new” space that fit them - like a well worn saddle or a favorite old chair.  But after 100+ years, the old girl had come to the end of her useful life. The Uhlmans sought to have it restored one more time, but the cost was too high and Mr. Uhlman’s health wasn’t what it used to be.

“Dad was sad, not just because the barn was falling down, but at the loss of this culture…this way of life that he had grown up with and ideals he raised his children with,” said Melissa. “Then David and Cindy [of Eaves and Ivy] offered to disassemble it for us.”

And disassemble we did – with a precision and care heretofore unnecessary.  After all we had to preserve more that time-worn lumber and burnished hardware – we had to preserve a legacy.
