Mommy and Baby Explore New Life Together

Although envisioning a desirable future for your baby is important, enjoying and appreciating the present moments of the journey between mother and child is most important.

Dec. 21, 2011 - PRLog -- A mother's dream of cuddling, feeding and nurturing her baby begins before she is born.  As this dream becomes a reality, its not uncommon for the days and nights to blend together as sleep is disrupted. So many times, parents find there is little time for meals, exercise or reflection for themselves. Although envisioning a desirable future is important, enjoying and appreciating the present moments of the journey is equally important.  Being a mother is hard work. Hard work is best accomplished by teamwork, mutual support, and working toward well-understood common goals.

This is just what Maria Johnson, a Parent-Infant Specialist, will offer at the Princeton Montessori School to parents, grandparents and nannies through a series of facilitated discussions. Ms. Johnson brings her many years of experience, observations and research to help new parents deal with the challenges of parenting, identifying the developmental markers in infant children and aid parents in the use of direct and indirect skills that affect the beginning responses and connections with the world.

"Mommy & Me" classes at Princeton Montessori School beginning in January will focus on helping parents learn ways to observe and interpret your baby's needs, as well as discuss important topics about safety, nutrition, the development of healthy eating habits, decreasing night crying and increasing sleep, discipline, weaning, toileting, travelling and celebrations.

Mothers are invited to come with their baby to the Open House on Tuesday, January 10 at 9:00 AM at the Princeton Montessori School, 487 Cherry Valley Road, Princeton or to register online go to http://www.princetonmontessori.org.
