World T.E.A.M. Sports Seeks Wounded Warriors for February Adaptive Ski Event at Snowbird

World TEAM Sports is seeking 15 wounded warriors from America's military to participate in February 27-29, 2012 inclusive Soldiers to the Summit winter sports event at Snowbird, Utah.

Dec. 7, 2011 - PRLog -- World T.E.A.M. Sports announced today an exciting adaptive skiing and snowboarding event honoring America’s wounded warriors. The February 27-29, 2012 Soldiers to the Summit at Snowbird event will bring together 15 disabled veterans for two days of winter sports at Snowbird, the premiere alpine ski resort in the high Wasatch Mountains near Salt Lake City, Utah. Under the guidance of skilled instructors, the veterans will learn and experience skiing, snowshoeing, snowmobiling and other winter sports activities. World T.E.A.M. Sports is partnering with the respected Wasatch Adaptive Sports, American Airlines and Snowbird Resort for this event.

“We are very excited to be working with the folks at Snowbird and the Wasatch Adaptive Sports program to be able to bring this new event to our nation’s heroes,” said World T.E.A.M. Sports President Paul Bremer. “The Soldiers to the Summit at Snowbird event will allow wounded warriors to learn and enjoy winter sports like skiing and snowboarding under the professional supervision of the skilled instructors at Snowbird.” As with most World T.E.A.M. Sports’ events, the not-for-profit organization will cover expenses for the participating wounded warriors, including travel, lodging, food, ski lessons and equipment.

Disabled veterans interested in participating and learning winter sports should contact World T.E.A.M. Sports directly for timely consideration. Candidate athletes may contact Kimberly Warpinski during business hours by toll-free telephone at 855-987-8326 x 7, or by sending an email query to soldierstothesummit@worldteamsports.org. “We’re accepting applications now,” Bremer noted. “Space is limited, however. Vets wounded in service to their country are encouraged to register immediately.”

Snowbird is Utah’s premiere winter resort with an average of 500 inches of snow each year. With a vertical drop of 3,240 feet, Snowbird has 2,500 acres of terrain for skiers.

At all World T.E.A.M. Sports events – whether mountain climbing, biking, white water rafting or many other sports – four things always happen:

• Disabled participants build self confidence and physical fitness;
• The disabled provide a role model for other disabled citizens, encouraging them to take up athletic activities;
• The disabled provide a moving inspiration to other participants and to spectators when they see disabled individuals can reach goals and meet challenges beyond anyone’s imagination;
• The disabled and non-disabled participants become a team, working together to overcome those challenges.
