ICD10monitor Launches Groundbreaking, Live Roundtable on Fate of ICD-10

The AMA’s House of Delegates voted at its Nov. 15 semi-annual meeting to “vigorously” work to stop the implementation of ICD-10. Roundtable panelists will discuss the implications of this decision and its potential impact on the federal government’s mandated transition to ICD-10 by October 2013.

Moderating the roundtable will be Buck and MedLearn Vice President of Consulting Kim Charland (BA, RHIT, CCS). Panelists confirmed to appear include Cleveland Clinic Health System Executive Director of Revenue Cycle Management Lyman Sornberger, Kloss Strategic Advisors President and former AHIMA Chief Executive Officer Linda Kloss, IASIS Healthcare Director of Health Information Management Kyle McElroy, Health Care Mediation Co-founder David Block and WellPoint Vice President of ICD-10 Federal Mandates Ian Bonnet.

“We are very pleased to have such outstanding authorities speak on the subject of ICD-10, particularly since they represent both the payer and provider communities,” Buck said. “We have sent repeated requests to AMA to have a representative on the panel, and so far, no response. And inquiries were made to both state associations of the AMA — Mississippi and Alabama — including a request to the American Urological Association. All three entities were reported to have initiated the resolution during the AMA's semi-annual meeting. The lack of response from these organizations, unfortunately, is disappointing."
