Bowling and Rehabbing at the Same Time

Short-term rehab patients have fun bowling every Wednesday while rehabbing

Dec. 6, 2011 - PRLog -- The ‘Alden Oldies’ may sound like a radio station, but they are not. They are the short-term patients at Alden of Waterford Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Aurora who gather every Wednesday in the lower level of the rehab center to bowl.
Each bowler has a custom team t-shirt that they make during activities each week to wear. To prep for the games, the patients gather and discuss their strategy for the game. Some of the more superstitious players wear their lucky socks or lucky shoes to give them an edge, while others believe what they eat before the game plays the biggest role in their game.
“I have been here for six weeks recovering after hip surgery and have really enjoyed the weekly bowling game,” says Louise Prassa, Plainfield resident. “I will miss this when I recover and go home.”
Katie Davis, activity director, adds, “Our patients love to do activities and stay active during their rehab stay with us. Bowling is one of their favorites. Everyone looks forward to Wednesdays.”
