Dec. 6, 2011 - PRLog -- After successful negotiations with his agent for this talented work, Brighton Publishing LLC today announced author Christopher Griffith had signed for his suspense thriller about a recently retired lawman who finds himself once again pitted against corruption, human trafficking and murder—but this time without a badge to slow him down. Code of Misconduct is slated for release first in eBook in mid-2012 with the print edition to follow shortly after.

When Grey Colson, recent widower and retired Major from the Clay County Sheriff’s Office, makes the difficult decision to move from his Georgia home to a condo in Florida, he finds it’s not the relaxing escape he bargained for.

In town for less than a month, Colson is harassed by the local police and intervenes in the assault of a young girl at the beach. Soon, he is recruited by a friend, another retired cop turned private eye, and against his better judgment, soon discovers everything has been one big setup…

…and all these seemingly unrelated incidents are connected back to one man.

Beneath every shady business is an even darker side that will go to great lengths to stay hidden. This is especially true in the dangerous world of human trafficking. With the arrival of Grey Colson to his new home in Florida, the delicate balance of power that had existed between murderous criminals and the county sheriff’s organized crime unit has been thrown into disarray. And no one is very happy about it.

Grey Colson, a former Georgia cop with a smart mouth, an arrogant attitude, and very little patience left is the one variable no one can seem to predict. When the only thing he has left to lose, his daughter, becomes a pawn in this violent war, Colson throws his precious code of conduct out the window.

And that’s when things get really interesting.

“Christopher Griffith is a tremendous new talent, and we are thrilled to bring Code of Misconduct to readers,” said Kathie McGuire, director of Brighton Publishing LLC. “Equal parts Don Winslow, George Pelecanos, Andrew Vachss, and David Morrell, here is a new suspense-thriller writer with much to offer—and a franchise character in Grey Colson with enough muscle behind him to launch a marvelous series.”

Major Christopher Griffith is currently an active duty law enforcement agent with the Cobb County Sheriff’s Office in Marietta, Georgia, where he has served with distinction for nearly three decades. His assignments have included undercover narcotics, DEA task forces, fugitive and fraud, internal affairs, and investigations. Code of Misconduct is his first novel.
