Kunjut created a new collection of patterns in Ikat style

PRLog (Press Release) - Dec. 6, 2011 - We’ve decided to pay respect to this extremely beautiful technique and created the collection of patterns devoted to Ikat theme.
IKAT – is a type of weaving where the warp, weft or both are tie-dyed before weaving to create designs on the finished fabric. If both warp and weft are used – then it is called “Double Ikat”. The term IKAT originally comes from the Indonesian word “mengikat”, meaning to “tie or wrap”. This technique is very ancient tradition founded all over Asia. Great care must be taken in tying resist areas. The precision of the wrapping determines the clarity of the design. After wrapping, the warp threads are dyed. When finished and unwrapped, the areas under the ties have stayed the original colour. Numerous colours can be added after additional wrappings.
