Follow on Google News | Miller Homes Raises Mo Money for CharityA director at Yorkshire house builder Miller Homes has raised more than £400 for men’s health by growing a moustache and bleaching it orange.
Steve said: “We are a charitable bunch here at Miller Homes and I really wanted to take part in Movember as I thought this was a different and unique way to raise money for a valuable cause whilst having fun at the same time. “Everyone enjoyed taking the mickey out of my ‘Mo’ and I wanted to see how much more money I could raise if I told people I would dye it before shaving it off, and surprisingly raised a further £100. “I’m pleased to have helped raise awareness in making men more aware of the cancer risks they face, thereby increasing early detection, diagnosis and effective treatment. “Thank you to all Miller staff and friends for sponsoring me.” Steve posted weekly photo updates of his Mo on the Miller Homes Facebook page and encouraged colleagues, friends and homebuyers to sponsor him in growing his mo for the whole month of November. During Movember, each ‘Mo Bro’ effectively becomes a walking billboard for men’s health and, via their Mo, raises essential funds and awareness for Movember’s men’s health partners, The Prostate Cancer Charity and The Institute of Cancer Research. Movember has raised over £108.5 million globally for the fight against prostate cancer and depression in men. And, more importantly, as a direct result, male awareness of health issues has improved with Movember helping to spread health messages directly to millions around the world.
