The new Rugged Bluetooth Ethernet Port Adapter RBE231 replaces the RBEPA which was launched in 2008 as connectBlue’
“The robust and water proof Rugged Bluetooth Ethernet Port Adapter RBE231 provides a plug-and-play solution to replace Ethernet cables,” says Rolf Nilsson, CEO of connectBlue. “We have implemented several features in order to make the 1000 meter long wireless link as reliable as is required in tough medical and industrial applications.”
Robust wireless co-existence is achieved through Adaptive Frequency Hopping (AFH) and the connectBlue Low Emission Mode™ which solves potential interference disturbances between Bluetooth technology and Wireless LAN not handled by AFH. Further, the RBE231 supports Bluetooth roaming and has an IP65 classed housing.
Configuration of the device is simple and intuitive thanks to the SMART configuration mode and the availability of a web browser configuration tool. Like all connectBlue products, the new Rugged Bluetooth Ethernet Port Adapter RBE231 is compatible throughout connectBlue product generations and technologies, providing a seamless upgrade possibility without the need for product redesign, upgrade investments or qualification approvals. Thanks to the compatibility strategy, the RBE231 is a possible Bluetooth alternative to the Rugged Wireless LAN Ethernet Port Adapters RWE231 and RWE241.
The RBE231 is radio type approved for FCC, IC and R&TTE, compliant with EMC, Safety and Medical standards, and Bluetooth 2.1+EDR qualified (3.0 prepared via firmware upgrade). These certificates allow customers to save on development resources and easily integrate wireless communication without having to go through lengthy and costly approval and qualification processes.
