All treatment is administered by their experienced, certified staff under the supervision of Medical Director, Dr. Jay Stevens, founder of Carolina Family Practice & Sports Medicine. Dr. Stevens has served as head medical physician for the Carolina Hurricanes since the inception of the organization in 1997 and he also serves as head company physician for the Carolina Ballet. He is a long-time member of NHL Team Physicians Society and is an expert on asthma and respiratory problems in athletes. Dr. Stevens also serves as the President and Medical Director of the American Institute of Healthcare and Fitness in North Raleigh. Among other awards, Dr. Stevens was the 1999 recipient of the Citizen of the Year Award by the Multiple Sclerosis Society of North Carolina.

Mary Marchbanks, President and COO, says, “We are thrilled to open our state-of-the-art facility at American Institute of Healthcare and Fitness ® in Raleigh.  Oxygen plays an important role in healing soft tissue injuries and wounds, and reducing the risk of infection.  We’ve enjoyed great success in our Texas operation, and are proud to bring our expertise to Raleigh.  During the first year of operation at our Texas Sports Hyperbarics facility, we were able to help the top Dallas Mavericks NBA players maintain peak performance and recover from back to back games during last season’s play-offs.  Raleigh native, Josh Hamilton, of the Texas Rangers credits us with helping him to stay in the game after cracking his ribs during the World Series last year.  We recently treated Josh at Carolina Hyperbarics to help him recover more quickly from his hernia surgery after this year’s World Series.”
