Dec. 5, 2011 - PRLog -- Hailed as the only gathering of its kind in the United States, the third Kurdish Youth Festival is scheduled to once again deliver an unforgettable experience. The upcoming festival will take place in the Nation’s Capital, Washington, DC, on January 6th-8th, 2012 and is promising to be the most exciting festival yet.

A youth-led coalition from various backgrounds have come together to form this year’s event coordinating committee. This group of young Kurdish men and women are determined to make the third Kurdish youth festival an enriching experience with a profoundly positive impact on the attendees.

Festival organizers understand the importance of supporting education and will once again award two outstanding students monetary gifts to foster their educational goals. The program includes meet and greet opportunities, educational panels, group discussions, and interactive workshops on community-relevant topics such as Kurdish language, generational gap, tools of activism, and issues facing the Kurdish communities across America. All this is in addition to the festival’s most talked about signature events: “Kurds Got Talent,” visual arts competition, and a celebration finale complete with traditional dance and live music by Emir Hesen and Rekesh Seyrani. As in previous years, notable figures, authors, human rights activists, NGO leaders, and international artists are expected to be in attendance. This event will also provide a chance for sponsors and scholars from across the globe to build lasting relationships with active Kurdish-American youth.

Established to showcase, promote, and raise awareness about Kurdish culture, the festival aims to cultivate the talents and abilities of young Kurds in the United States while encouraging community participation. Today, it also serves as an annual reunion for old friends and a perfect platform for new connections.

These annual gatherings would not be possible without the generous sponsorships of the festival’s supporters. Asiacell, the first mobile telecommunications company in Iraq, has become the festival’s first ever diamond level sponsor. This sponsorship is a testament to the company’s “brings us together” slogan. Other notable sponsors are gold level sponsor SENK Group, and silver level sponsor Pinnacle Web Services. The festival also enjoys the support of several nonprofit Kurdish Organizations operating throughout the United States. A list of sponsors can be viewed on the festival’s website.
