Author Buck Winthrop Releases "Everybody Knows Paris" Excerpt From Forthcoming Novel, "Ocean Drive" ...Says film version could be Lindsay Lohan's "comeback" role.

Dec. 6, 2011 - PRLog -- Buck Winthrop has released an excerpt from his forthcoming novel, "Ocean Drive" which is being released on Kindle in the US and seven countries including the UK, France, Germany, Spain and Japan on May 15, 2012.

Ocean Drive, is the second book in the authors Shattered Delusions trilogy following his debut novel, the soapy "Delusions of Grandeur" published in 2010. Ocean Drive is named for the oceanfront South Beach street that houses such iconic Art Deco hotels as the Colony, Breakwater as well as the fictional "Steele Hotel and Towers" where much of the action in his story takes place.

"I am very excited about the book," says Winthrop, who has had the project in many different incarnations starting in 2001 with "Diary of A South Beach It Girl" a three-part novella that appeared in WET magazine. "I didn't intend to have a trilogy," he says. "It just sort of evolved on it's own."

Fans of Delusions will recognize characters such as soap opera star Mercedes Dodd who is now Mrs. Garrison Steele, wife of the real estate billionaire. They reign over the South Beach social whirl from a forty room triplex penthouse atop Steele Tower which also houses Legends Model Management, South Beach magazine and Institute de Beaute' a world famous medical spa where the beautiful people stay beautiful. Adding to the mix is the beguiling publicist Martha Medlin, gossip columnist Chloe Lowestoft and transsexual Bianca Ferre. Life becomes complicated by the arrival of Elle Sampson, a mysterious woman in town with a plan of revenge that could bring everyone down.

"It is a fun, guilty pleasure," says the author, who names Sidney Sheldon and Harold Robbins as his biggest writing influences. "South Beach is an outrageous place. Over the top, colorful and full of stories almost too unbelievable to be true." The book is being released in a changing publishing landscape when devices like the new Kindle Fire sold million’s on Black Friday alone and authors like John Loche are selling millions of e-book downloads without the support of a traditional publisher. “Once upon a time, e-books were looked down upon,” Winthrop points out. “Now, they are all the rage. People read now on Kindle, Nook, iPad and even their cell phones. It’s incredible.”

Winthrop has posted the opening chapter, Everybody Knows Paris, on his website for free  and will follow it up with two more chapters in months ahead leading up to it's May 2012 release. He is hopeful that it will find it's way on to the screen. "It has all the makings for a great film," he says. "I think it would be an amazing vehicle for Lindsay Lohan’s comeback. She is such a great actress."

In addition to releasing the final book in the series, “Hollywood Hills” in 2013 Winthrop is working on a trilogy of another kind—Children’s Books. The first, Danny the Dandelion will debut in 2013. “I love children,” he says. “And this project is especially important to me. What could be more fulfilling than enriching the life of a child?”
