Dec. 3, 2011 - PRLog -- To capitalize on the BFF status that the digital playground has among teens, BodiMojo, Inc. is developing web and mobile wellness incentives for 13-18 year olds, including self-confidence tools for girls. Funded with Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR) grants from the National Institutes of Health, BodiMojo's body confidence zone is wired into a personalized technology health platform and motivational digital media that promote healthy body image, fitness, nutrition and wellness through powerful, inspirational teen-driven content. “The BodiMojo goal is to maximize technology for positive behavior change: get teens online to go offline—and live healthy productive lives,” said BodiMojo founder, Tara Cousineau, Ph.D., a clinical psychologist and Boston-area mother of teen girls.

BodiMojo's customized technology platform allows personalized health and wellness information via the web or mobile phone, allowing teens to receive 24/7 access to tools addressing crucial adolescent dilemmas such as body image, nutrition and fitness, eating disorders, emotional life, dating, sexual health, alcohol and drugs, and more. Social media activities allow for teen-to-teen support and discussion. BodiMojo’s research-proven results on improving body esteem for girls has inspired a new and exclusive girls-only dashboard and community focused on body image—a subject that is often overlooked in health promotion but is at the heart of many girls' self-esteem issues and risk behaviors in adolescence.

BodiMojo is participating in the mHealth Summit Start-Up Pavilion, a showcase of early stage companies who are leveraging wireless technologies for health. The BodiMojo.com platform is mobile optimized and has two health apps in iTunes: Wake My Mojo, a grant-based project to gamify health status, and BMI 4 Teens, developed in partnership with TactioSoft. BodiMojo.com includes interactive health tools, games, quizzes, original health content, social networking, and customized user pages for teens. BodiMojo’s Facebook fan page app allows teens to take health quizzes, and send motivational messages, challenges, and virtual gifts to friends.
