Looks like the end for Donovan McNabb

After a very sucessful NFL career. It looks like this could be the end for Donovan McNaab

Dec. 2, 2011 - PRLog -- The waiver wire was not kind to former Minnesota Vikings quarterback Donovan McNabb on Friday. McNabb went unclaimed, even though it was highly rumored he was heading to the Chicago Bears. McNabb had expressed interest in playing for his hometown team the Bears, but the interest wasn’t reciprocated.
The question is…why not? Donovan McNabb grew up in Chicago and even though he isn’t what he once was. He’s got to be a better option than current third-stringer Josh McCown. But the Bears didn’t  place a claim on him. Nor do they plan to get him through free agency. That means the Vikings still owe Donovan McNabb $5.05 million in base salary.
The Vikings have other plans. They tried to sign second-year player John Parker Wilson from the Atlanta Falcons. But Wilson declined.  Then they claimed Sage Rosenfels off waivers a 11 year vet and former Miami Dolphin. Rosenfels, 33, has been ill for most of this season. He’s healthy now and will be a backup to rookie Christian Ponder.
Vikings coach Leslie Frazier  said the parting with McNabb was mutual. Minnesota traded a sixth-round draft pick this summer to the Washington Redskins for Donovan McNabb. It was hoped he’d bring stability to the offense until rookie Christian Ponder could develop.
McNabb went 1-5 as a starter, threw for only four touchdowns and completed just five passes of 25-plus yards. Frazier said he believes McNabb can still play in the NFL, and he doesn’t regret the trade for him.
Donovan McNabb’s  agent, Fletcher Smith, said McNaab becoming a free agent was a good thing. "This way he can weigh his options and evaluate the situations as they come and make the best decision.”
Playing time isn’t necessarily the top priority for McNabb. But feels he can still be very productive and can play at a high level.
Smith says the most important thing for his client is winning a Super Bowl. That has always been the main focus, in Minnesota, in Washington and in Philadelphia.
To be realistic the days of Donovan McNabb being able to lead a team to a Superbowl are over. But he still has the skills to be a valuable backup and a mentor to an up and coming quarterback.
End
