Dec. 2, 2011 - PRLog -- December 2, 2011 -- Colleyville, TX – Drew Diaz, CEO of Heart Test Laboratories, Inc., is pleased to welcome the newest member of their Clinical Advisory Board, Maurice Slapak, CBE, MD, FRCS, FACS.

Dr. Slapak is a United Kingdom-based surgeon whose medical background includes consulting and academic positions in the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom. He primarily focuses on organ transplantation and vascular surgery techniques.

With a medical career spanning more than four decades, Dr. Slapak states that his cardiac experience has been heavily research based. His commitment to advancement in organ transplantation is clarified in his early 1967 publication detailing a study in which a donor dog’s preserved, beating heart was transported in a hyperbaric chamber from Montréal to Boston and transplanted into a grateful canine recipient.

Dr. Slapak additionally shares a dedication to physical rehabilitation stemming from a debilitating illness. His passions converged in the foundation of the Transplant Games in 1978. This unique event is now a global effort in which organ recipients from 74 countries compete every two years.

Dr. Slapak joins an international team of surgeons and specialists committed to the ongoing development and distribution of the MyoVista™, a portable, affordable, diagnostic device used to determine the presence and level of life-threatening myocardial abnormalities and the obstruction of coronary arteries.

“I am enthusiastic about the possibility of the widespread value of MyoVista in the assessment of unsuspected cardiac conditions,” Dr. Slapak said, “particularly in vulnerable groups taking part in significant physical activity.”
