By: Eileen Monesson Dr. Liz will discuss why it is important to have certain diagnostic tests done to remain healthy. These include but are not limited to mammograms, prostate and colorectal cancer screenings, as well as bone scans for osteoporosis. “Many adults defer having critical diagnostic tests done because they are symptom free,” states Dr. Liz. “Although it is widely known that early detection of cancer, osteoporosis and other conditions greatly improve a patient’s chance of being cured and their quality of life, people typically believe that they will not get sick and avoid having these screenings done. The American Medical Society has established standards on the right age for a baseline test, as well as follow-up. What people need to realize is that these tests can save their lives.” Dr. Steve is a 30-minute health, wellness and lifestyle program. The multi-topic show is hosted by Dr. Steven Salvatore, a board certified Emergency Medicine physician who has served as the health expert on PIX11 Morning News since 2005. # # # For more than fifteen years, Dr. Liz has worked with children and their parents on how to deal with the physical and emotional changes that occur during the tween and teen years.
