Aguilar created a modern, yet elegant updo on a mannequin using three French twists at different angles. Using bits of veil throughout the hair, as well as ornamentation that mirrored that of the mannequin’s bodice, Aguilar created a look that was both elegant and modern.
“Daisy is an awesome student,” said Peggy Richburg, director of Olympian University. “She travels 90 miles from Lovington every day to attend school and she is dedicated to be the best she can be. We are very proud of her, as well as all our students who competed at the Educational Forum.”
There were three categories at the Educational Forum: a competition for a Bridal Mannequin, a Fantasy Mannequin, as well as a three-person team event. In the three person team competition students were told to pull out the stops and create an original, themed entry that incorporated hair and makeup that would wow the judges, spectators and fellow students. Each entry was judged based on creativity, originality, innovation, color and theme.
Olympian University won a lion’s share of awards at the event capturing first and second place in the three-person team competition, as well as first and second in the bridal updo category. The winners from Roswell included: the first place winners in the three-person team event, Meghan Harris; Karina Favela, Katie Drake and model Brooklyn Edwards; Renee Anaya, second place teamJamie Wall, JR Samario, Tania Carmona and Model Chelsea Villeneuve, first place in the bridal mannequin competition, as well as Aguilar who placed second in the same category.
Olympian University in Roswell has won approximately 20 awards in the past five years. The cosmetology school is accepting applications for men and women who are interested in a career in cosmetology.
