Dec. 1, 2011 - PRLog -- New Book Explores Names Of Stars, Constellations, and Other Celestial Features

You will be seeing stars when you read the breathtaking astronomy book Useful Star Names: With Nebulas and other Celestial Features. If you’ve ever looked up in the sky with wonder and wanted to know more, this helpful guide is a must read.

Retired astronomy professor Thomas Wm. Hamilton invites you along as he presents a fascinating list of the 88 constellations. Learn the names of the stars, nebulas and galaxies within each, as well as how to find their location in the sky and their brightness.

Professor Hamilton says his students always prefer to learn a star by its name, rather than its catalog number. “Teegarden’s Star is so much nicer sounding than SO 0255790.5.”

Amaze your friends with your knowledge of the stars, because the sky’s the limit!

About The Author
Thomas Wm. Hamilton knew he wanted to be a writer since he was young. “When I was 11 years old and I didn’t like the way Mark Twain ended Tom Sawyer Abroad, I decided to write my own ending.” Born in San Francisco, the author grew up in New York and New Hampshire. He is a retired astronomer who taught in college for 32 years, worked in several planetariums, and worked on the Apollo Project. In 2009 the International Astronomical Union recognized his contributions to the field of astronomy by naming asteroid 4897 Tomhamilton. In 2010 the International Planetarium Society at its conference held in Alexandria, Egypt, designated him as a Fellow of the Society. His earlier books were nonfiction. Time For Patriots  is a time travel adventure story. A group from the present is sent back to 1770. The story involves Washington, Franklin, Mozart and others.

A botched physics experiment sends an entire military academy back in time. After embracing their fate, they collectively decide to use their newly found hindsight to rewrite American history.

Their mission begins when they wipe out the British army at the Battle of Bunker Hill, move on to free the slaves, change the voting rights for women and reveal a dramatic planetarium show of the Apollo landing. Their intention to right the wrongs of history causes tremendous changes, including changes to the United States Constitution. Their secret is compromised when Benjamin Franklin steals a twenty first century history book from their library. Centuries later, Columbia University professors are asked to write a book on the Revolution. During their research, they discover several anomalies, including a revealing letter from Mozart’s librettist. Do the professors uncover the academy’s secret
and reveal it to the world? Or does a mysterious stranger stop them in their tracks?

“Time for Patriots is a fascinating look into a world changed by knowledge from the future.” – Christopher Nuttall, Producer and Managing Editor Changing the times, the online Alternate History magazine.
