Under the theme “True Colors”” the team of Jamie Wall, JR Samario and Tania Carmona placed second for their entry. The team turned their model and fellow classmate Chelsea Villeneuve into a brightly-colored runway model, complete with miniature runway. Villeneuve was decked out in haute couture with neon colors from the top of her perfectly coiffed hair to her fans-shaped nails. Even Villeneuve’s wardrobe was created from hair pieces and extensions.
“The team wanted to create something truly unique with the bold colors of a runway show,” said Peggy Richburg, director of Olympian University. “Our very talented Phase II instructor, Kristi Eaton, is famous for helping each student bring out their best and these young men and women really displayed their true colors with this show-stopping entry.”
There were three categories at the Educational Forum: a competition for a Bridal Mannequin, a Fantasy Mannequin, as well as a three-person team event. In the three person team competition students were told to pull out the stops and create an original, themed entry that incorporated hair and makeup that would wow the judges, spectators and fellow students. Each entry was judged based on creativity, originality, innovation, color and theme.
Other winners from Roswell included: the first place winners in the three-person team event, Meghan Harris; Karina Favela, Katie Drake and model Brooklyn Edwards; Renee Anaya, first place in the bridal mannequin competition and Daisy Aguilar who placed second in the same category; JR Samario who took third in the fantasy hair and makeup category and Anaya who placed fifth in the same category.
Olympian University in Roswell has won approximately 20 awards in the past five years. The cosmetology school is accepting applications for men and women who are interested in a career in cosmetology.
