By: Roger J Willard, Constulting Hypnotist Five Ways to Beat Stress by Roger J. Willard, CHt. 1. Breathe. Several times a day do controlled deep belly breathing. It is one of the most relaxing things you can do. It also allows the body to take in more oxygen to help all parts of your body be more energized to feel better. 2. Laugh. It releases endorphins which are natural pain inhibitors, which then help you to just feel good and relax. At the same time it boosts your immune system to keep you healthy. Laughter is a fun and good cardio exercise which is a natural stress reducer. Stop reading the bad news and start reading things that make you laugh, such as the comics or humor books, books by authors that have a funny outlook on life. Forget the serious movies and get ones that give you a good belly laugh. Listen/watch comedians that tickle your funny bone. 3. Move. Like stated above, exercise is a natural stress reducer. Whether indoors or outside, move to get your heart going. It rids of the built up tension from not being able to “fight or flight” which is the foundation of stress. So, walk, run, dance, play, swim or anything that keeps you going and your heart beating a little faster. 4. Decide. Most stress happens when you are trying to make a decision. You fret and worry about what will be right or wrong, what people will say, or some other nonsensical reason. But when you finally make the decision and commit to it, you naturally feel like a weight has been lifted from you. Most of the time decisions people worry about will not matter that much anyway. So, just decide and get on with feeling good. 5. Remember what Christmas is all about anyway. Even if it is not part of your faith, the message of love for others is still a good one for the world to hold close to its heart. Christmas is about joy and sharing that joy with others. # # # Located in central Pennsylvania, the Willard Hypnosis Center help clients make positive changes in their lives. End
