John Rafferty Announces Bid For Pennsylvania Attorney General

Nov. 30, 2011 - PRLog -- HARRISBURG, PA - Standing before a group of his supporters at the Fraternal Order of Police’s state lodge, State Senator John Rafferty (R-Montgomery) announced his candidacy today for the office of the Attorney General of Pennsylvania.

Having begun his legal career as a Deputy Attorney General, Senator Rafferty has an intimate knowledge of the office and its functions.

“I am running for Attorney General because I have the unique blend of experience that is necessary to ensure that the people of Pennsylvania are kept safe,” Senator Rafferty said. “As an attorney in the Criminal Law Division of the Attorney General’s office, I conducted grand jury investigations, focusing on those who would seek to defraud taxpayers. As a State Senator, I have been instrumental in the passage of numerous laws designed to protect our children from sexual predators. As Attorney General, I will stop at nothing to ensure that our streets are safe, and our homes are secure.”

Senator Rafferty added, “My administration will have zero tolerance for political corruption – without exception. I have worked tirelessly to ensure that all of Pennsylvania’s citizens are afforded a voice in the deliberations that impact their lives on a daily basis, and as Attorney General that will continue.”

Representing parts of Berks, Chester and Montgomery counties, Senator Rafferty is in his third term as a State Senator where he has been a leader on safeguarding citizens and assisting law enforcement and emergency responders. He is chairman of the Transportation Committee, former chairman of the Law and Justice Committee, and is a member of the Judiciary, Consumer Protection and Professional Licensure, Banking and Insurance, and Appropriations committees. Additionally, Senator Rafferty will bring an extensive record of legal, business and legislative success and community service to the Office of Attorney General.
