FiXiT Foundation Helps More Than 150 Pets in Need with Pamper For a Cause

One-day beauty event in Norfolk, Va. raised funds for pets in need

Nov. 29, 2011 - PRLog -- NORFOLK, VA – The FiXiT Foundation, a Norfolk-based organization dedicated to ending pet overpopulation by increasing interest in spay and neuter, is excited to announce that it will be able to help more than 150 pets get spayed or neutered with their recent one-day Pamper For a Cause event, which was held across Hampton Roads on October 27. As part of the event, area residents were invited to indulge themselves at local salons with haircuts, manicures, massages, and more to help animals in need across the country.

“We are so excited about the success of the Pamper For a Cause event,” said Stephanie Downs, president of the board of directors, FiXiT Foundation. “The community really came together for this initiative and helped us raise more money than we imagined could have been possible. We are so thankful for everyone’s support, and can’t wait to roll this out again next year.”

The funds will first be used to fix animals in the Hampton Roads area currently in need and then on a national level. Earlier this year, the FiXiT Foundation launched GetYourFix.org, a unique initiative to match pet owners in need with sponsors. GetYourFix.org is a website where pet owners can post a need for a “fix,” and “funders,” who want to have a direct impact on ending animal overpopulation, can connect with them and sponsor their pet’s surgery. Funders can connect directly with a low cost spay/neuter clinic to donate the funds or have FiXiT coordinate the surgery on their behalf.
