Boca Raton Student Invited to FOX NEWS CHANNEL in NYC

Nov. 29, 2011 - PRLog -- Boca Raton, FL. - It isn't often that a high school student gets an inside look at a major cable news network, but Hayley Crowell, 16, of Boca Raton, experienced just that in early November.  The high school junior was given a rare and intriguing look inside the Fox News Channel Headquarters in the 45 story News Corporation building in New York City.

Hayley, who has set her sights on a career in broadcast journalism, was invited to Fox News by Senior Executive Producer, Pamela Browne.

"Pam showed me around the various departments throughout the building and the two of us kept a running dialog about the Fox News Channel operation and what actions I should take to prepare myself for a career in the news media business," said Hayley. "She was incredibly generous with her time and knowledge and I am acutely aware of how fortunate I was to be invited there," she added.

Prior to joining Fox, Emmy Award winning Pamela Browne worked on such popular and respected news programs such as ABC's Primetime Live with Peter Jennings , Dateline NBC and 60 Minutes at CBS. At Fox, she has produced an impressive number of programs including War Stories with Lt. Colonel Oliver North and Fox News Reporting, covering such stories as secrets of 9/11, the mortgage crisis and Iran's nuclear ambitions.
 
While walking through one of the hallways at the News Corporation building, Hayley was introduced to news anchor Bill Hemmer, co-host of America's Newsroom.  Hemmer promptly joined the discussion on how best to pursue a career in broadcasting.

Hayley described her time at Fox as an intense race though the headquarters and an ongoing question and answer session. Among the questions Hayley asked were what colleges she should pursue, what majors are recommended and what talents and abilities Fox News Channel looks for when hiring. Ms. Browne even suggested some books to read and scribbled down some career  tips on the back of her business card.

The network offers a limited number of summer internships to college students and Hayley is hoping to eventually be considered for one of those coveted opportunities.

Hayley is a junior at Saint Andrew's School in Boca Raton. She has been featured in South Florida media many times for her community involvement and her historical research on the legendary Barefoot Mailman.
