An Inspirational Woman and Survivor of Polio, Mary McManus Shares Her Story With Petey Silveira

Nov. 29, 2011 - PRLog -- Survivor of polio and Boston Marathon finisher Mary McManus will share her story of hope with Petey Silveira, founder of New Pathway To Healing, on BlogTalkRadio this Wednesday, Nov. 30 at 3 p.m. EST. Mary McManus reinvented herself at the age of 53 after receiving the life giving diagnosis of post polio syndrome, “a progressive neurological disease.” Mary brings an inspirational message of healing, hope and possibility through her poetry, blog and how she lives her life.

Mary is a retired award-winning social worker from the Department of Veterans Affairs, poet, yogini, blogger, 2009 Boston Marathon finisher and a survivor of polio and childhood trauma. Mary is the subject of a short film documentary, “Keeping the Pace:The Mary McManus Story, has been featured on local TV news and has been a guest on commercial and blog talk radio shows. She was interviewed as an Exceptional Woman on Boston's #1 rated FM radio station Magic 106.7. She was a finalist for Brookline Woman of the Year and honored at their March 2010 ceremony for Women Who Inspire Us. In June of this year she won Impowerage's writing contest, “It's Never Too Late to Transform Your Life and Run Your First Marathon.” Mary donates her time and talent to causes near and dear to her heart. She raised over $10,000 for Spaulding Rehab Hospital where she took the first steps on her healing journey for her Boston Marathon run.
