DC-Area High Schools Square Off In Metro Rivalry

Basketball event sponsored by Nike and Baltimore-based urban retailer DTLR to help schools raise funds for their athletic program
 
Nov. 28, 2011 - PRLog -- WHAT:   Metro Rivalry Basketball Game

Four DC-area high school basketball teams will hit the hardwood Friday, December 2, to fight for bragging rights at The Metro Rivalry.  

The competition begins at 6 p.m. as Booker T. Washington High School takes on Eastern High.   At 8 p.m., Ballou Senior High School takes on Gonzaga High School.  

The event will be hosted by Miles “Snapper” Jones and WKYS’  Antonio “The Cuban Cigar Smoker”.  DJ Analyze will be in the building and  Fat Trel and Garvey “The Chosen One” will perform  in between games.

The Rivalry offers more than just great performances, basketball match-ups, bragging rights for the winners. Participating schools have an opportunity to raise money for their athletic programs.

“We are creating a fundraising opportunity for each school to raise a potential $ 1,500 by selling  300 tickets at $5 each to their student body,” said Sherri Goodall, Community Outreach Manager for DTLR. “Each school will use the money raised from ticket sales to support their respective athletic program.”  Goodall says tickets will be available at the door.  The cost is $10.

6:45 p.m. ( media interviews with teams, players and DTLR representatives)
8 p.m. (second game tip-off)

WHERE:    Ballou Senior High School (3401 4th St. SE)
