Women’s Institute Advisory Board

Marlene Bauer Pissott, president of InGroup, Inc., was recently named Chair of the Board of Bergen Community College’s Women’s Institute located in Paramus, N.J. An advisory member since the inception of the Women’s Institute in 2009, Pissott has been an active participant in its acclaimed “Meet the Experts Mentor Sessions” that offer women a unique opportunity to discuss various topics including leadership, entrepreneurship, professional communication and development skills. The Women’s Institute is dedicated to providing opportunities for all women to develop the skills and innate abilities needed to take greater control of their lives. The Institute is a consortium of local businesses, site teaching and professional mentorship programs designed to support and nurture women's educational, emotional and physical needs throughout the many phases of life. The Institute offers women the opportunity to build new skills, impart their lifelong set of values and partner with a wide variety of business and educational leaders to become more influential and stronger contributors to the local community. The goal of the Women's Institute is to develop a women's leadership curriculum to educate women to attain their personal and intellectual goals.

The Women's Institute sponsors the Ena “Po-Po” Lue Scholarship for women and provides a diverse array of engaging and transformational experiences including an Annual Conference, Ladies Tea in the Spring; Leadership Academy through Continuing Education, partnerships with women-centric not-for-profits in the community and Mentor Programs. The Women's Institute is a valuable resource center for networking and achieving a woman's fullest possible potential. Professional mentorships and affiliations are a hallmark of the Institute. Recent guest speakers have included writer and activist, Gloria Steinem, Tracye McDaniel, CEO of Choose NJ and Chef Lidia Bastianich.

“We are so delighted to have such a talented, nurturing and exceptionally creative business owner like Marlene to lead the Women’s Institute to new levels of service for our community,” said Sandra Sroka, Women’s Institute Coordinator and Assistant Dean of Continuing Education at Bergen Community College. Pissott takes over as Chair from Holly T. Schepisi, River Vale Township attorney, who was recently elected to the New Jersey Assembly in the 39th district.

“I am hoping to follow the example set by Holly in furthering the mission and vision of the Women’s Institute who developed business partnerships, women’s leadership curriculum, and a scholarship for women while she served as Chair of the Advisory Board,” commented Pissott.
