By: emiLime

Nov. 28, 2011 - PRLog -- AUSTIN, TX — November 28, 2011 — emiLime, authentic handcrafted accessories for the modern conscionista will be hosting a pop-up shop in New York at the Columbus Circle Holiday Market, November 28 through December 24, 2011.

Made possible by Urban Space, the Columbus Circle Holiday Market brings together the best designers, chefs and boutiques to make exclusive products available in advance of the holiday season for a limited time. During the market, emiLime will present its third winter collection featuring handcrafted accessories made entirely from natural materials, including alpaca, sheep wool and bull horn. Every piece is designed to be multi-functional and this particular collection features a unique combination of chunky wool, integrating textures and colors that truly make your exclusive emiLime accessory one of a kind.

This year’s Winter collection was inspired by Peru’s deeply rooted history and includes mixed textiles, making the transition from Summer to Fall to Winter even more realistic especially for the modern conscious consumer.

“By focusing on using natural materials almost entirely sourced from Peru and handmade techniques, it helps narrow down the endless possibilities that are available when trying to conceive new collections and designs,” explained emiLime founder, designer and fashion anthropologist Emily E. Green.  “Having not studied design is actually a huge advantage for me since I can take a non-structured approach to product development.  While I realize sometimes you have to know the rules in order to break them, I really enjoy working closely with the artisan community to create something beautiful from scratch.”

One technique in particular - embroidery, is used in many pieces for this collection and emanated from local Peruvian artisan, Cari from San Martin de Porres. She started knitting as a little girl, having quickly picked it up from closely watching her mom and sisters. She then helped knit items for her family, such as baby clothes. Now Cari has three daughters of her own and spends her nights knitting and also enjoying embroidering as well.

All the designs are created as a collaborative effort between emiLime and the artisans with Emily spending half her year in Peru during the design and production process to ensure the fair treatment of everyone involved as well as draw inspiration from the amazing country and people.  Every piece in the emiLime collection is traceable and has a collective story from the artisan behind the inspiration.

Founded by up and coming fashion anthropologist after traveling through South America, Emily E. Green realized that the world was quickly becoming a global market making it too easy to feel disconnected to the things we purchase.  With that in mind, Emily set out with the goal to connect consumers with the people and processes that create beautiful, one-of-a-kind products and through that inspiration, emiLime was born.

If you are in New York during the holiday season, come by Columbus Circle to say hello and check-out our limited hats, scarves, arm warmers and ponchos made from 100 percent, all-natural alpaca and wool for the winter season.
