Nov. 28, 2011 - PRLog -- The natural light play an enormous role in the way that wall tile and floor tiles are perceived and when looking for wall tiles and other tile materials in store, always ensure that you take into consideration the natural light in the room you will be applying them to. Often the light in tile stores is much brighter than natural light and it is important to take this into consideration.
Darker coloured wall tiles can add real depth to a room and there are many natural stone floor tiles that are available in darker coloured tiles such as slate floor tiles and quarry tiles which are available in rich reds and browns that will add both depth and character to a room. Quarry tiles have taken on quite a revolution over the last couple of years because they are a cheap floor tile solution, they last for many years and they add the rustic character that many home owners are looking for.

If you are refurbishing the whole room, the design needs to be considered as a whole rather than separately because the floor tile designs and the wall tile styles need to complement each other. Often the first aspect of kitchen design is to establish the layout and the furniture and once this is established, the decorative aspect can be chosen.

If you have your heart set on traditional features and a timeless design style that won’t go in and out of fashion then many of the natural stone floor tiles are great solutions. There are many to choose from such as granite floor tiles, travertine floor tiles and slate floor tiles. Slate floor tiles are particularly fantastic for a high traffic area because they have a natural non slip ability that is ideal for busy areas of the home and they are available in many colour variations. If the natural light in the room is limited and you still want to use darker coloured floor tiles, there is a compromise.

Slate floor tiles are available in many colour variations and there is always the option to go for a mixture of subtle tones rather than the dark traditional slate. Some of the subtle shades include beiges, gold’s and greens and these can be used together and are normally supplied in a patterned form where the pattern can be easily installed. This gives home owners the opportunity to have a unique floor tile area and still have a floor tile that is relatively dark but not too dark that it will make the room appear too dark.

Once the floor tiles have been chosen designs can be thought about for the wall tiles and if you have many subtle tones on the floor, you may want to use warm tones such as crèmes and whites which will compliment the floor area beautifully. This whole design will create a traditional theme and a warm environment as opposed to a clinical and modern design and the choice is largely due to your personal preferences and the design styles you prefer.
