Nov. 28, 2011 - PRLog -- A FILM of the Retirement Villages’ (RV) lifestyle model is being shown at this week’s NHS Alliance annual conference in Manchester.

The film will be viewed by the UK’s leading healthcare professionals who are gathering to consider latest innovations from commissioners and providers, and discuss implications of the paused Health and Social Care Bill.

The RV film puts forward the case for the private continuing care retirement community concept to become a more mainstream option for the future of elderly care.

Paul Walsh, MD Care & Operations at RV, explains: “Having successfully operated this model for 30 years, we understand the benefits and positives it brings, not only for individuals choosing to live in such a village community, but also to helping address the growing issue of elderly care provision in the UK.

“Of course, this model isn’t the single solution; however, it does have a part to play. One of the strong themes of the conference will be private and public sector healthcare organisations working closer together, and we couldn’t agree more.”

The film has been co-ordinated by the ITN and forms part of a comprehensive DVD, designed to be the official broadcast for the industry on what should be the benchmark in healthcare going forward.

It will be streamed throughout the two-day conference which opens on Wednesday (Nov 30) with an address from Health Minister, Rt Hon Andrew Lansley MP. Entitled ‘Break Through!’, the conference will feature the movers and shakers in primary care and a comprehensive workshop programme providing examples of how innovative, go-ahead commissioners and providers are creating the future today.

Retirement Villages Ltd has been developing and managing bespoke lifestyle and care villages for the over 55s for 30 years. The pioneers of the UK model, the company now has approaching 2,000 residents living in 13 locations spread across 10 counties in the south of the country.
