Actel Consulting Advises HKEx On Building A Next Generation Hosting Data Center In Hong Kong

Hong Kong, November 28, 2011 - On October 26, 2011, Claude Achcar, Managing Director of Actel Consulting shared the Podium with Ryan Wuebbels, Head, Relationship Management, HKEx at the Finance & Investment Forum for Data Centers Asia and Pacific to present the HKEx Case Study of Building a Next Generation Data Centre in Hong Kong.

Beginning in 2010 and over a three-year span, Actel Consulting is advising HKEx on a next generation Hosting Data Center from business case to design, rollout and transition to HKEx operations teams. The new facility, which will also contain the HKEx Primary data center housing Cash, Derivatives, and clearing businesses, is located in Tseung Kwan O Industrial Estate and will include two floors dedicated to hosting services. It has been designed to be a Tier 4 and LEED Gold standard facility.

Actel Consulting has first undertaken the project in 2010 and aims to complete it within 3 phases into 2012. Phase one covered market research, benchmarking, and Business Case building; Phase two, the Operating and Financial models. The current Phase three, dedicated to Business Requirements, Design, Technical Specifications, Tendering, Evaluation and Rollout Supervision will be completed in 2012.

Formerly closed to brokers, the service will open up to an ecosystem of brokers, information and technology vendors and service providers.  It will also facilitate faster network performance.

The hosting data center is being designed to offer:
