Two matches tied in a thrilling first day of the City Forex Hong Kong Cricket Festival 2011

Two matches were tied during an exciting Day One of the City Forex Hong Kong Cricket Festival 2011.

Nov. 25, 2011 - PRLog -- The City Forex Hong Kong Cricket Festival 2011 got underway at Kai Tak Cricket Ground this morning with an entertaining local derby between Brar Group Indus and Buttar Associates.

This is the tenth staging of the three day annual club cricket festival hosted by Lamma Cricket Club and organized by the Asian Cricket Sixes Tour, this year featuring sixteen teams from Hong Kong and around the world.

Batting first the Brar Group batsmen showed early form notching up 80/0 with Jimmy retiring on 30 not out and Sunny hitting 25 not out. In reply Buttar fell 17 runs short despite a breezy 22 not out by Irfan, Jimmy impressing with the ball taking 1 wicket for just 3 runs.

The Royal Automobile Club from the UK were into gear early with a good win over local heroes the Silverbackz from Discovery Bay. Mo hit a breezy 32 not out for the RAC who posted a reasonable 76 run total. Aneesa starred for the Silverbackz with the bat scoring 30 of his sides modest total of 45, RAC comfortably winning by 31 runs.

Unusually there were two matches today which featured tied totals and had to be decided by countback. Both Brar Group and Generation X scored 65/1 in their match, Brar Group narrowly winning the match with most runs scored off the bat. The CBB’s also had a close win, pipping the RAC by less wickets lost after both sides scored 55 runs.

In the final match of the day the ADF Tigers from Penang, Malaysia had a good win over Brar Group Indus. The ADF boys put on 65 runs, Demjo scoring 28 runs, Sunny 2 taking 1 wicket for 8 runs. Brar Group faced tight ADF bowling particularly from Jase and Gilly and completed their innings 9 runs short of their target on 56 runs.

Fifteen matches are scheduled to be played tomorrow in a full schedule of round one matches. All participating teams will play in matches on Sunday on Finals Day.
