Government’s Youth Contract System is doomed to fail according to employment entrepreneur

Nov. 25, 2011 - PRLog -- The coalition governments’ new plans to introduce jobs to unemployed young people is “doomed to fail” claims Nick Chadbourne.

With youth unemployment at a 17 year high, the governments ‘Youth Contract Scheme’ has been implemented to engage both youths and employers concurrently - a strategy that Chadbourne believes is flawed.

“One of the biggest challenges for the 16-24 year old age group is the fact they have not been taught how to work. Working in itself is a learned skill and employers do not have the time or inclination to train young people how to work.

“In the current economic climate it is not the responsibility of the private sector to do this, central government and training providers must develop real world solutions to prepare young people for the world of work.

“The idea for BIGDOG came to me when I was continually asked by young people for unbiased advice and information on all options available to them. It’s a proven formula for us and allows young people to find work right for them and employers to find a workforce that is engaged with their vocation.” 

Nick has previously spearheaded innovative HR & training schemes at a number of businesses. Most recently he launched and implemented Synapse Learning, an apprenticeship training provider which has successfully trained and deployed over 5,000 young people in the last 2 years.
