The inaugural annual event brought together a who’s who of international recruitment professionals both in terms of industry speakers and the large media presence covering the event. The presentations were streamed live (from the home of the WWW) and generated significant traction among the twitterverse (#CRSS2011).
Topics ranged from issues from the Jobseeker's perspective to modernizing recruitment in Brussels to vision and tools in sourcing and video screening (Sonru).
The keynote address was from Robert Cailliau who with Tim Berners-Lee developed the World Wide Web. Other speakers included David Bearfield, Director of the European Personnel Selection Office (EPSO); Keith Robinson, Founder of SiteAdvisor Group and Co Founder at RCEuro.com; Gabriele Silva of L’Oréal and Yves Quitin, Director General for Personnel & Administration at the European Parliament among other gurus / influencers such as Steve Evans, Tom Chesterton and Antoine Lhosmot of Potentialpark.
Sonru founder Ed Hendrick co-presented a paper with Dr Sue Morison, from Queen's University in Belfast, whose most recent work has involved the development and implementation of Multiple Mini Interviews (MMI) to select students for the undergraduate dental course from both home and overseas. Their presentation showed how Queen's have developed an online MMI for overseas students to replicate the face-to-face process used with home students in a valid and reliable way using SONRU.
The event was attended by representatives from some of the largest organisations in Europe/worldwide such as the World Health Organization, theInternational Committee of the Red Cross, Global Fund, , the European Parliament, Oracle and Shell.

The CERN Recruitment and Sourcing Best Practices Seminar was one of a number of high profile events Sonru attended across Europe in November. Earlier in the month Ed spoke at HR Tech Europe 2011 in Amsterdam and the team attended at Taleo Europe 2011 in Paris. The following week Ed presented how online video can be used as part of the selection process at the Mobile & Video in Recruitment Conference in London. The November tour concluded yesterday in Barcelona with Ed's presentation at the Pan-European Online Recruitment Seminar and Workshop where he spoke about automating the screening process using online video.
