Views from Swansea's past make the perfect Christmas greeting cards

Nov. 24, 2011 - PRLog -- Unlike Ebenezer Scrooge, you won’t have to be visited by the ghost of Christmas past to evoke memories of South West Wales.

For some, Christmas rustles up memories of times gone by, and staff at West Glamorgan Archives have developed Christmas cards that do just that.

The archives, located in Swansea Civic Centre and Neath Mechanics Institute, are selling a variety of unique Christmas cards featuring familiar views of Swansea, Neath and Port Talbot from bygone eras.

The cards provide a nostalgic look back in time and illustrate how local areas have changed from what people see today.

There are 30 distinct designs from which to choose, each depicting a different scene of the local area.

County Archivist, Kim Collis, said, “We have a diverse and fascinating range of Christmas cards available featuring old views of Swansea, Neath and Port Talbot.”

“They always prove popular and will appeal to those wishing to send something with a bit of a local feel to friends and relatives far and wide.”  

“And this year we have added two new designs to the collection, taken from Edwardian postcards of Swansea and Neath.”

Christmas cards are available online at http://www.swanseashop.co.uk, from West Glamorgan Archive Service in Swansea Civic Centre and the Mechanics Institute in Neath town centre.  

The cards will also be on sale in the foyer of Neath Civic Centre on Tuesday 29 November, 12noon - 2pm and the foyer Swansea Civic Centre on Thursday 1 December, 12noon - 2pm.
