Kris Carr, Susun Weed and others donate to Re|shelter auction

Nov. 24, 2011 - PRLog -- Environmentally safer housing non-profit Re|shelter is currently holding its first auction fundraiser on eBay, featuring items donated by wellness warrior Kris Carr, herbalist Susun Weed, wild seafood company Vital Choice, superfoods company Navitas Naturals, non-toxic housing design team pH Living, and others.

Monies raised will be used primarily for re|shelter's Housing Renovation Grants Program, which will provide funding to eligible individuals that enables them to create a safe, tolerable space in their existing home or trailer, helping to keep families together, prevent homelessness, and avoid further loss of health.

Top in-kind donors include Annie Hopper, creator of the Dynamic Neural Retraining System™, who generously donated (10) copies of her DNRS™ DVD kit (an approximate value of $2,500), and Ashok Gupta, who contributed (2) copies of his Gupta Amygdala Retraining™ Program DVD series and (3) 3-Month Group Coaching Webinars.

Bidding for each item is open for seven days, and any items not bid on will be reposted. The auction will end on Christmas day, December 25, 2011. Starting bids for most items are being set at 50% of the retail value or lower, in order to give people affected by disabling environmental intolerances an opportunity to access some of the health-supportive donations.

Re|shelter president Julie Genser shares, "There are thousands - if not millions - of environmental refugees across America and around the world, struggling to survive in an increasingly toxic world. They all suffer from severe, disabling environmental sensitivities that make finding safe housing nearly impossible. There just aren't enough safe, affordable choices in today's housing market. Re|shelter wants to change that, but we need your help. Please help us, so we in turn can help this marginalized and vulnerable population that has historically been ignored, maligned, and denied resources in just about every sector of our society."

Genser co-founded Re|shelter last year with her good friend Julie Laffin. The two are survivors of environmental illness who have both been threatened with homelessness and know the housing struggle of this devastating condition intimately. They have also both achieved a level of stability in their lives and know what "safe housing" truly means. They are backed by an incredible Board of Advisors that includes a top environmental medicine physician, indoor air quality experts, environmental health researchers, and an architect with years of experience building housing for the chemically sensitive.
