In partnership with the Alameda County Community Food Bank, which serves 49,000 people each week, the pediatric dentistry practice is hosting a 2011 Holiday Food Drive. Through November 30, donations of healthy, non-perishable foods will be welcome at the office.
“We hope to help families in need during the holidays by being an official drop-off site,” says front office manager, Daniel Plascencia.
Three clearly marked barrels are in the waiting room of the pediatric dental practice for the convenience of patients, nearby residents, Alameda South Shore Center shoppers, and community members who would like to help out by dropping off food for the needy. The goal is to fill all three barrels. Everyone who donates at the Alameda Pediatric Dentistry office is eligible to enter a grand prize drawing. The raffle will be held at the end of the month.
This winter, demand for emergency food is higher than ever, and Alameda Pediatric Dentistry places a high priority on helping to ensure that its Alameda County neighbors don’t go hungry during the holidays.
“Our community is important to us. Last month, our Halloween Candy Buy Back event collected 500 pounds of candy for Operation Gratitude. Next month, we’ll be participating in Toys for Tots,” says Plascencia.
The dentistry’s goal is to fill three barrels. Donations will be accepted from 7:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. through Wednesday, November 30.
Alameda Pediatric Dentistry’s sister office, Pleasanton Pediatric Dentistry at 1443 Cedarwood Lane, Suite D in Pleasanton is also an official Alameda County Community Food Bank drop-off site, with the goal of collecting two barrels of donated food.
