Sunset Transportation Recognizes Fleet of 50+ Trucks that Volunteered for Scouting for Food

Nov. 23, 2011 - PRLog -- When over 30,000 Boy Scouts gathered donated canned goods from over a million home visits to 44 local fire stations on November 19, it required a strong team of logistics support to transport those goods to their final destination, the St. Louis Foodbank, in just one day.

Sunset Transportation, a Third Party Logistics Company (3PL), manages the logistics for the St. Louis Scouting for Food campaign and would like to thank this year’s volunteer fleet of logistics coordinators, carriers and drivers that donated their services, trucks, equipment and gasoline.

Because of the generosity of these companies, the 2011 Scouting for Food campaign was able to transport 1.8 million canned goods in only 9 hours, using 50 tractor trailers. As a result, approximately 500 pantries will be able to feed families for the next four months.

Donations Still Being Accepted: To donate to this year’s Scouting for Food Campaign, drop off canned goods at any Regions Bank location through Saturday, Nov. 26.
