Casey Peterson & Associates recognizes the need to further the construction community’s education. In response, they sponsored the first annual Construction Management Symposium – a seminar geared towards an industry that is overcoming a difficult time.
The enlightening seminar was held at their office on Nov. 17. Speakers from the banking, insurance, legal, and accounting fields in Rapid City presented practical and useful information to the construction contractors. They spoke on a variety of topics with one goal in mind – educate construction companies on how to make sound business decisions.
Speakers included:
• Steve Conzet and Jaci Worth from Wells Fargo Bank, offering tips when applying for a loan and a look at the 2012 economic future.
• Nathan Larson and Gary Larson of Western Dakota Insurors spoke about presented the ABC’s of surety bonding.
• Jason Smiley of Gunderson Palmer Nelson & Ashmore LLP spoke about mechanics’ lien claims on private construction projects and arbitration versus litigation.
• Michael Dell of Casey Peterson & Associates spoke about succession and transition planning for construction company owners.
Michael Dell, Director of tax at Casey Peterson & Associates, said opportunities like their symposium are very unique.
“Nobody does an educational program like this in the Black Hills,” Dell said. “I’ve received some great feedback on our symposium.”
CPA has hosted programs similar to this in the past and will continue to offer learning opportunities in the future.
